I am certain that this will not happen, since there are too many projects/products dependent on Avalon Framework. Let say that from experience, only minute changes have a chance to be introduced to AF with one or more dependent projects/products will block it. I am confident Merlin TLP will not face any major issues in this area. > I used Fortress before, and recently using Merlin, and liked Merlin a lot, > as well as interested in its future plans, so, would agree with you to get > it as TLP and whatever is good for it, but would like all of us to think > ahead and see if we will come into similar situation after few months of > Merlin TLP ?? As I see it, Merlin's biggest problems at the moment revolves around 'social aspects' and 'politics', which is rooted in the long history of Avalon and its original intentions. Merlin doesn't share too much of these original intentions, and the 'Merlin proponents' within Avalon feel that this hampers the growth of Merlin and its community. Nobody will join the Merlin TLP unless they have a strong interest in the platform, but people join(ed) Avalon prior to Merlin and for very different reasons, and rightfully doesn't have to agree that Merlin is the right way forward. This is my trigger point for trying this route, and securing support among the user base before rallying support at committer, PMC and higher ranks within ASF. I am somewhat overwhelmed with the response, and it is encouraging that so many have spoken up, even if you have been fairly quite before. Thank you ALL.
