Sure.

The Avalon Meta Plugin for Maven has not been installed.

Now, FYI we are not likely to continue the Maven support, and the replacement 
Magic is far easier to get working, so I suggest that you do the following 
(provided that you have, or are prepared to, installed Subversion).

1. Check out the latest sources from the Subversion repository;
    svn co https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/avalon/trunk avalon

2. Go to the root directory ( "cd avalon" after the command above), and issue 
the bootstrap command of Magic (which is an advanced Ant extension).
    ant setup

3. Then run the build of the entire Avalon structure (takes ~8min on my 1.4GHz 
system), by;
    ant

After that you find the Tutorials in avalon/planet/tutorials, and they can be 
compiled by executing "ant" from any directory level down the each project 
itself.
