Subject: [BioMart Users] BioMart Training Course

Dear BioMart users,

I'm currently in a phase of creating a prototype of a knowledge base similar to
the Pancreatic Expression Database (PED) but for Chronic Diseases, specifically
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) as a use case. This a project
supported by the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona and the IDIBAPS research centre
also located in Barcelona. The prototype aims at annotating expression
experiments stored in a local MySQL database with the BioMart marts and also to
check similarities between our local database and PED.

The first from a bunch of questions is whether the PED database is available as
a mart or mart service so I can connect to that data source within BioMart. If
so how can I connect to PED?

The second questions comes from my experience dealing with the different
release candidates of BioMart v.0.8. Are you planning to give training courses
on BioMart (both from a functional and technical point of view)? If so please
keep me updated.

The final question is if you could tell me who should I contact to
request/contract specific support for the development of our COPD knowledge
base project.

Yours faithfully,

Isaac Cano
