Hi Lisa,

you can certainly create dynamic queries and retrieve the results in either TSV or XLS format.

the URL to GET/POST your query is:

http://www.biomart.org/biomart/martservice?query=

followed by XML. You can use the martview web interface to learn the XML querying using the XML button:

http://www.biomart.org/biomart/martview

for XLS format, make sure you set the formatter = "XLS" in the XML query.

HTH,
Syed

Dear Biomart, I work at the West Midlands Regional Genetics
Laboratory. We would like to use the Biomart tool to export a gene
list into excel to send out with our diagnostic reports on our
patient's with potentially clinically significant copy number
imbalances detected by microarray analysis. Is it or would it be
possible to create a standard template/URL that alllows us create the
same query every time apart from us having to enter the chromosome
and the base pair start/end?

Many thanks, Lisa Reali
