Hi Guys,
We have a series of BioMarts, some of which have suddenly decided to
become case sensitive to filters. We haven't changed our BioMarts via
MartEditor, but the databases have recently had a maintenance restart.
We don't know why our previously case-insensitive searches are now case
sensitive.
To demonstrate, the previously case-insensitive biomart can be found here:
http://www.knockoutmouse.org/biomart/martview
Please choose "IKMV Genes and Products" / "IKMC Projects / Alleles"
Selecting filters and setting "Gene" / "Gene / Marker Identifiers" to
"cbx1"; hit "Results"; returns nothing.
Back to that same filter box. Change the string to "Cbx1". Hit Results.
We get some results.
If you now try a JAX BioMart, which can be found by hitting "New" in the
same BioMart page as above. Then selecting "MGI (Jackson Laboratory US)"
/ "Genes and Genome Features" and repeating the above Gene filter by
going to "Filters" / "Genome Filters", and selecting "Feature Symbol" in
the dropdown, using the same symbol (cbx1), you can see this mart
doesn't care about case.
So clearly, it is something that's configurable. But we don't know
where, or why it's suddenly changed.
We are wondering if it's some database setting, perhaps returned to a
default when the db was restarted.
We don't believe the filter settings have changed (i.e. the filters
defined via MartEditor have not changed). The MartEditor XML is in svn
and has not been modified for 9 months.
We would be really grateful for any advice on this.
Perhaps you could also suggest how to enable tracing, so that we might
have a look at the sql.
Thanks in advance,
Richard
