Hi Arek,

Thank you for a quick answer.

Here what I did to link the datasources in Biomart v08 rc6:
- added MSD and Homo sapience genes sources from url
- linked them by UniPort Accession id(s) using the Dataset Link Dialog
- indexed the link
- added a couple of pointer filter/attributes to MSD
- tested on localhost -- everything works fine.

This solution is great for 1 to 1 dataset relationship. But what is the optimal
way to support the linking between multiple versions of two datasets? For
example: multiple Cosmic vs Ensembl versions? If you think that the explicit
linking would be a solution, could you describe the steps how to establish it,
please?

Thank you,
Olga,

Subject: Re: [BioMart Users] Query multiple datasets in biomart 08

Hi Olga,
don't worry about indexing anything for now. This is not critical.
The 08 manages its links mostly through the use of pointer filters/atts (which
is more intuitive for the end user) although explicit linking is also possible.

If would help us if you could elaborate a little bit on how you achieved your
linking and which version of the software you used for this task?

cheers,

Hi All,

Is it possible to query multiple datasets as it was in biomart 07? According to
the biomart 08 user manual it needs to link 2 sources and index the link. I did
exactly as it was described in the manual, using the example data sources, but
in the martview I can't query them to consecutively, only separately.

What am I missing?

Thank you,
Olga.
