Hi Pierre,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I went over this again, and no steps was not the real problem. The real problem was that we are creating a worker name that doesn't exist. The other builders use the correct name, but this one doesn't. I don't recall seeing any exceptions or logging related to this, but I suppose I wouldn't, as the master doesn't know when it starts up who might connect to it.

Sorry for taking up anyone's time on this.

No exceptions in the logs. On the builder page, the FF console shows 3 items:
Password fields present on an insecure page.
Password fields preset in a form with an insecure form action.
ConstraintError in scripts.js:19:23607

Thanks again.

Hi Neil,

No this is not intended that a build with no steps produces no update in the UI.

We have some integrations tests that produces builds with no steps.
I just double checked that they actually produced correct data.

I also tested an empty builder based on the default pylint configuration, and the build is showing up with empty list of steps as expected.

Do you have any exceptions in twisted logs? or any exception in the browser console?

Pierre

    Hello everyone,

I had a slightly strange experience today. I was asked to look into a
couple builders that apparently had never run. The workers for these
builders did have other builders, and those builders were
    producing builds.

Looking at the builders, I could see that builds would queue, and
apparently get executed. But there was no history of completed builds.

It turns out that the builds had no steps (I'm not going to bother
explaining how that came to be, it's a bug in our master.cfg).

Is it the intended result that builds with no steps will never show up
completed in the UI? Had these builds shown up in the UI, we'd have
immediately seen that they had no steps.

    Thanks!
