The only odd thing is that the Spring folks did only provide this option [1] in case of commons-httpclient but forgot to do the same as the same API was given by JDK 1.5 afterwards [3] so that we have to take care of it inside Camel itself (java.net.HttpURLConnection & javax.net.ssl.HttpsURLConnection).
