Hi,
I am trying to deploy CloudStack 4.0.2 on a small cluster, using CentOS
6.3, the KVM hypervisor, and a Basic Zone configuration.
I do not have previous experience administering VMWare or XenServer, just
end-user experience with AWS. I have read the Quick Install Guide, the
Installation Guide, and most of the Admin Guide.

I brought the Management Server up, with the help of the Tutorial "setup
checklist" and the Installation Guide. Now I'm working on the Host
installs. However, I am confused by section 8.1.7 of the *Installation
Guide<http://cloudstack.apache.org/docs/en-US/Apache_CloudStack/4.0.2/html/Installation_Guide/hypervisor-kvm-install-flow.html#hypervisor-host-install-network>
*, "Configure the Network Bridges" (for KVM Hypervisor Host Installation).

Section 8.1.7 and 8.1.7.2.1 (for CentOS) state that ALL installations must
create three VLANs on each KVM host server. But this isn't mentioned in
the Quick Install Guide nor the Admin Guide. Nothing says how these VLANs
are used by the services, or how to declare them to the Management Server.
Therefore it is hard to see how to adapt the instructions in 8.1.7.2.1 to
my environment. Some other doc sections talk about VLANs, but only in the
context of VMWare or XenServer, which we aren't using. Furthermore, my IT
colleague says these servers are already on a VLAN, and he's very concerned
about CloudStack creating its own VLANs that may conflict or overlap.

Is it truly necessary to set up these three VLANs for a Basic Zone
configuration with KVM? If so, can you point me at any more documentation
about how the Virtual Routers use these VLANs in a Basic config? And do
you have any guidance for working with systems that already have their
primary IP communications going through a VLAN?

Thanks in advance for your help.
