I am wondering to expand disk from XenServer and then manually update 
cloudstack database. But I am worried what if CloudStack won't recognize new 
root disk size or volume later?

Possible with Ansible + cloudstack module by resmo 
https://github.com/resmo/ansible-cloudstack

(note : cloudstack module will be included natively in Ansible 2.0 (currently 
in alpha1 state))
