I am using the NoMachine free version, but it's not letting me choose the resolution I want, unless I am looking at the wrong place. From what i've read, NoMachine would support the maximum resolution that your guest supports and I am stuck with the 1024x768 for now.

VNC is slow like hell and insecure unless you set up encryption which is not trivial.
