GitHub user nxsbi edited a discussion: What’s the best way to move CS4.19 from
CentOS to Ubuntu

Hello all,

little background- I currently have 4.19 on CentOS 7. I want to move to 4.20.
Per documentation, I would need to move to RedHat/Oracle/Rocky Linux 8.

I had bad experience with Rocky Linux 8 just last month where a fresh install
and then yum/dnf update to kernel caused Grub config to get wiped (there are
many such posts so not a user error). Any how- so I plan to move to Ubuntu
instead (mainly because for the stable releases and my prior experience). So
my question is What’s the best approach to moving to Ubuntu and upgrade to 4.20
as well?

my thought is below:
- setup 4.19 on new Ubuntu server
- Point this management server to existing sql database so it’s a second
management server using the same metadata
- Shutdown original management server
- Upgrade Ubuntu based 4.19 to 4.20
- optionally move the mysql server to this server as I am using single
management server setup by backup restore and update the db.properties file IP.

are these the right steps? Is there any documentation around this?

Additionally, I am not sure how to handle:
- usage server - do I set it up on second server as well and then shutdown the
original? Will I lose any data? (Cannot lose data)
- How do I transfer the existing 2FA so existing users do not need to setup 2FA
again.?
- Any additional steps for Console ssl besides the standard ones?

Any direction would be helpful.
