Hi Marty, It depends, but generally that's true - instance snapshots are kept on the hypervisor and/or on the instance's disks and not extracted/copied to secondary storage like volume snapshots. This is because instance snapshots may have snapshot memory/RAM and not just the disk(s) state(s). I don't remember on top of my head what the behaviour was for XS/XCP, but you can do experiments to find that our using XenCenter/XCP-center.
