It is not currently possible, and there are no plans to support it. I'm not familiar enough with the details to know whether it would be a suitable replacement. I don't think the current developers working on Pacemaker have the time to investigate the possibility, but we always welcome anyone interested in contributing :-) Pacemaker already has the ability to work with either Heartbeat or Corosync as the cluster communication layer, so there is already some abstraction in place.
