Problem is that the excalibur-datasource-vm12-20021121.jar distributed with Cocoon2 does not contain the Jdbc3Connection class, which it should. Download the correct version from http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-avalon/release/excalibur/ If you can't find the specific jar, let me know, I have a working version here so I can mail it to you directly.
