Is the there a reference implementation of a XML:DB that you should recommend I look at? Any pointers would be helpful.
Start from http://www.xmldb.org/xapi/index.html and follow links... Take a look at xml.apache.org/xindice also. Don't have any other pointers for you. Search cocoon-dev archive, recently somebody from berkeley db team was asking similar questions -- might be you will be able to write the driver together.
