Mail and mock objects

I'm attempting to send an email from the flow, but, after doing:

  var mms = new 
Packages.org.apache.cocoon.mail.MailMessageSender(smtpHost);

My variable mms is still undefined.

Could it still be using mock objects?

I've put the mail.jar and activation.jar into lib/local and rebuilt, and 
the files are now in my WEB-INF/lib.

Any ideas?
