Jonathan, Hi...from what I've been able to discover, they can work together, but it's not a very happy marriage.
I have a defined pipeline in Cocoon that is called to take some data from an XML file (after the file is built from a set of data retrievals) and turn it into a PDF to be sent back to the browser. Admittedly, this is a trivial implementation of Cocoon However, it does work when I use a response.redirect() in my Struts application. There are two issues with this: 1. An IllegalStateException is always thrown by Struts because the response is committed before Struts regains control. Not a big deal for my application, but could be a problem cuz it's always written to the log file. 2. Since the redirect takes the request/response chain out of the control of the Struts framework, you lose the end-to-end cohesiveness of the Struts controller...thus, we have only been able to implement this when the Cocoon servlet is at the end of a logical chain of processing and not an intermediate step. There may well be better ways to do this...haven't had the time to research them very deeply! Hope this helps!
