Thanks for taking a look at the problem. I'm downloading 2.1 now to see if it works better for me.
I have just started using Eclipse, but had not thought to try debugging Cocoon with it. If I do find anything I'll let you know, but I know so little about the inner workings of Cocoon (or even the outer workings) that it seems unlikely.
