Hi,

Please figure this out and tell me. I need this too. :-)

Seriously: I've been thinking about this and the best idea that comes to
mind is the following:

the CVS repository Cocoon-2.1.4DEV contains new Woody widgets, union among
others. What you can do is define two widgets one for read/write, one output
for read-only and put them in a union widget. Choose one or the other
depending on the role.

Another option (using less widgets): set the load direction to load-only for
read-only access. I'm not sure about the syntax here, but when you look at
the Woody samples of 2.1.4DEV you'll know what I mean.

For me there should be a significant difference in presentation of editable
and non-editable data. So I would render a read-only field to plain HTML
text, rather than an input box that "doesn't work".

When starting on the Woody unions, bear in mind that binding is not yet
fully implemented (if I remember correctly from other mails), but you're
welcome to add the code. :-)

Do let me know your progress. As I said at the beginning: I need this too.

Bye, Helma
