As I believe that many people will start using it, all remaining bugs and problems will be found very soon. So perhaps in 6 or seven weeks from now, it should be usable for production.

Second most incompatible changes are first discussed on the developer list, so following the list helps to get notice of potential problems. However, in the case of the portal, the current version is stable and usable and is already used by several companies throughout the whole world, even in big installations. Currently, I don't expect any incompatible changes and as soon as the JSR integration is ready I would like to move away from the alpha state into a beta state. But of course, that's not me alone who decides this, the it's a community decision.
