I think the trick is to - indeed - read the INSTALL file. I'm not quite sure
whether all references are fully stated in the local.blocks.properties (I got a
compile error though I thought I did it right), but if you get it compiled
you have a go.
Please report such errors if you came across them, otherwise they won't get fixed. The blocks.properties file is generated out of gump.xml. This gump descriptor knows "all" dependencies, but some might be missing. Especially after the move of XSP from to its own block might made some dependencies missing (I fixed it for example for the database block).
