Consider, also, using the StreamingMarkupBuilder as an XSLT alternative for transforms =)

I've had this fuzzy feeling for a while, that a combination of the EffectPipe (as used to create the EffectWidgetReplacingPipe in the forms block) with scriptable (Groovy) element handlers could be a nice way to write transformers. But unfortunately our days still have no more than 24 hours around here ;-)
