Well we are about to take delivery of a brand new G5 Xserve, to be co-lo'd at TeleHouse London. I'd be prepared to offer a deal to a limited number of list users, dependant of the requirements.
However we have some setting up to do etc... So we may not be up and running for possibly a month. If you can wait that long the offer will be there for you Derek. If you can get your requirements back to me we can talk.
well "their" support might not be the right word, as the page states
that the company is run by a sole student :) so you might just try and ask
www.mirsky.de is also mentionable, we host our commercial projects
there and despite some unannounced maintainment server shutdowns,
the overall impression is OK. It's one of the largest german tomcat
hosters. Their tomcat hosting starts at EUR 8 (25 MB space), but I heard
you can ask them for cheap testing accounts on their not-so-well maintained
servers. They have some very limited information in english and state
that there's english speaking support available.

The starline looks OK; just a pity that they do not offer Cocoon as part of the basic package (5E) as I do not really need the bandwith or storage space.... how good is their support for English speakers? The wiki pages and all the main pages are in German.

Derek,
the greatnet hosting service starts at eur 15 for a virtual server.
The cheapest cocoon hosting service I know is at http://www.starline-net.de/ ("zis is german to" though :) and costs eur 10. A friend of mine hosts
his private page there and it works OK.
If bandwidth and stability are not so important, can't you have one of your
machines function as a cocoon server via dyndns-domain ?
