I use Fedora too. While I appreciate the effort of Fedora community in distributing java applications I prefer to install myself all the java stuff. That way I avoid this kind of problems. For example, I have also installed Ant outside Cocoon and both work without interference. Thinking about that will be fine to notify Ant community about the issue and I think they will fix the problem.
