(While this announcement is not strictly about a Cocoon project, I
think it is relevant one-time information for many Cocoon
users. Please read on if interested!)

Dear Cocoon users,

Orbeon is proud to announce the open sourcing of the entire code base
of our Presentation Server product, formerly known as the OXF
Platform. The project is now hosted on SourceForge:

  http://sourceforge.net/projects/orbeon/

The Orbeon Presentation Server is an MVC Framework for building
Composite Web applications from XML sources using XForms. While
similar to Apache Cocoon, the Orbeon Presentation Server benefits from
richer declarative controller semantics, standardized forms processing
using W3C XForms, and tight integration with XPL, a full-featured
pipeline processing language for XML. A comparison matrix with Cocoon
is available here:

  http://www.orbeon.com/community/cocoon

(Please keep in mind that it is difficult to keep such a comparison
matrix up to date. We therefore welcome additions and corrections,
as we have in the past.)

Presentation Server is a major component of the open source, XML-based
Orbeon Integration Suite (OIS) we are currently working on. Other open
source components well under development include:

o Studio, an eclipse-based integrated development environment (IDE)
currently targeted at helping developers using Presentation Server
  to build XML-based web applications.

o XML Server, a server-side XML processing engine based on the Orbeon
XPL Engine, a mature, high-performance engine for pipelined
  processing of XML documents

We invite interested people to download our stable 2.5.3 release from
SourceForge and to join our mailing-lists!

Regards,

-Erik
