BUT I need the messages to be in the format:

So you only get the i18n keys, but not the translations.

If the message in the popup is neither translated, you seem to have a problem with i18n at all.

is linked to a <a href="#"> hyperlink - this seems very strange - should it not be linked to a popup error message of
some sort? If so, how and where do I create this facility?
That's ok, the popup is created via the onclick event.
