XPath 2.0 tokenize() function.
Available if you use Saxon 8 as your XSLT transformer.
The EXSLT tokenize() function should be available if a reasonably
recent Xalan is used for XSLT (including the Xalans which are part of
JDK 1.4.2_x). See
