I couldn't agree with you more. My usual complaints about unit testing, extensibility, transaction handling and re-usability across other non-Cocoon based applications seem relevant here.

To Fadi - I do not intend to sound mean, but do you not think about these things or do you think that they are not important considerations?

sorry, you are right, my question was too unspecific.
Is it good practice to define sql querys in the document?
I guess it's better to keep sql out of content-xml files.
