I'm not an expert on this material, but more on the web.xml file can be found 
on:

http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/webapp/web_xml.html

(amongst others)

Settings like datasources might require a real application server environment. E.g. something like Bea weblogics, Websphere, Oracle Application Server, JBoss, etc...

I'm afraid I can't really help you any further, I have only little practical 
experience in this field..
