That's not quite accurate, I believe... :-) v2 and v3 will be abandoned, not because they "have not been found better" than the standard one but because their salutary features will have been incorporated into the standard version. The standard version is the generally recommend one, not because it is the best, but because for those for whom it makes little or no difference, upgrading will be easier later on when v2&3 are dropped.
In particular, the feature the O.P. asked about â the ability to address widgets as properties instead of by using lookupWidget() â is not available in "v1" IIRC... it's a v2 thing (and maybe v3, not sure).
