Your right, it is only a once off. If I need something that these tools can't
do I'll invest the time in working out a cocoon solution.

I can only speak for myself: for a one time job I won't bother setting
up anything, I'll just use a simple tool like wget or the one you
mention.
If you have a repeated need for generating files with Cocoon, it makes
more sense to configure it to generate files directly.
