Well, within the sitemap you can still use stuff like {ID}, don't you ?
I am actually working with the same problem. I have figured out that by getting
the user object, and making my own
modules/generators I will eventually be able to get the same functionality as
before. But it will take time :(

I'm on the same problem (meaning I haven't solved it yet), but there
exists a util class with some static functions:
blocks/cocoon-auth/cocoon-auth-api/src/main/java/org/apache/cocoon/auth/ApplicationUtil.java
Maybe it helps you to solve your problems
