Background I have been asked to put together a publication tool chain that can generate both HTML and PDF from XML source documents. Cocoon seems like a good match for this project, but I am concerned about the amount of effort that the "start-up" phase will require.
We are starting from a pair of documents. One (the tutorial) exists as XML files; it has been published using AurigaDoc. The other (the manual) exists as a few hundred HTML files. Questions: What standard (or at least common :-) flavors of XML markup are used in the Cocoon community? I've seen a few references to DocBook; is it a reasonable choice? What tool(s) exist to convert random HTML into Cocoon- friendly XML? HTML Tidy is a good start, but XHTML isn't (for example) DocBook... Any advice, comments, or pointers would be appreciated. -r -- http://www.cfcl.com/rdm Rich Morin http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/resume [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.cfcl.com/rdm/weblog +1 650-873-7841 Technical editing and writing, programming, and web development --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
