Yes, should be possible easily. You also have access to the request in
the action if it is an uploaded file.

It's probably not there because it has no special meaning in Cocoon.
You can easily implement that yourself using java.util.zip.* stuff. If
you want a util doing this for you (for example ZipUtils or whatever)
that's beyond the scope of Cocoon. But there are probably a few libs
out there in the wild. I found for example Plexus' zip component [1].
It has a ZipUnArchiver. Apache Ant should also have zip functionality.
