Yes: Performance is much faster (the larger the document, the larger the 
performance gain, up to hundreds of times). StripNameSpaceTransformer is a very 
simple SAXTransformer just removing namespaces, and ofcourse, is much faster 
(after being cached, it has some subtle optimizations compared to 
StripNameSpace.xsl, like shorter cachekey and a NOPValidity instead of 
TimeStampValidity...though hard to measure the difference :-) (doing in one 
pipeline 100 times the .xsl version compared to 100 times the sax strip 
namespace transformer will show you difference, like a few seconds compared to 
a few ms) )

IMO, StripNameSpaceTransformer is always preferred if you only want to strip 
namespaces and have no additional transformation things
