Yes, I was coming to the same conclusion. I think what happened
is that the upgrade on the server was done by simply downloading and
deploying a war file.  Its my understanding you need to download the
source code for Cocoon and actually build it on the server, and this
is what the support team have now planned for the weekend...

I guess that Java versions are different on your local machine and production 
server.

It's an old problem with Java/Tomcat endorsed libs, see:
