Adding this bean definition means that this is _not_ a blockless webapp. Otherwise I cannot add anything to Grzegorz's

Yes. My goal is not to write a "blockless" webapp. I just want to add content
to webapp without creating a new block. This used to work with all cocoon 2.2
releases that had cocoon-core versions prior to 2.2.1. The change may be in
some other component, but when I altered the version of cocoon-core back
to 2.2.0, my application started working again. So I'm trying to track down
what changed and ask for a fix or find a work-around.
To me, it just makes sense that SitemapServelet would find a sitemap in some
servlet-relative location when the context-path is set to a default value like "/" or
even "".
Now that a protocol specification is required, there is no way to "get there"
without using a blockcontext. It would be great if the context protocol worked
as it does in sitemaps:
context-path="context:/"
