Hi Folks I've solved this issue myself.
It transpires that for scheduled builds to detect changes in Subversion it is necessary that the Continuum Project properties contain an SCM Url that explicitly paths to the desired branch, and that the SCB Branch/Tag is empty. So this works: SCM Url: scm:svn:svn://invldnlicmadmin/calypso/calypso/branches/9.2.1 SCM Branch/TAG: But this does not work: SCM Url: scm:svn:svn://invldnlicmadmin/calypso/calypso SCM Branch/TAG: branches/9.2.1 Perhaps someone could let me know the SCM Branch/Tag property's intended purpose. Kind regards, Robin. -----Original Message----- From: Robin Roos Sent: 13 March 2008 18:58 To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Scheduled builds Is it usual for a "trunk" project (no branch/tag name defined) to have an SVN UPDATE performed 20208373 [pool-1-thread-1] INFO org.apache.maven.scm.manager.ScmManager:default - Executing: /bin/sh -c "cd /dumps/appdata/continuum/work/6 && svn --username continuum --non-interactive update" but for a branch/tag-based project to have an SVN SWITCH performed 20209614 [pool-1-thread-1] INFO org.apache.maven.scm.manager.ScmManager:default - Executing: /bin/sh -c "cd /dumps/appdata/continuum/work/5 && svn --username continuum --password ***** --non-interactive switch svn://invldnlicmadmin/calypso/calypso/branches/9.2.1 /dumps/appdata/continuum/work/5" Whenever Continuum is testing for changes as part of a scheduled build? -----Original Message----- From: Robin Roos Sent: 13 March 2008 18:13 To: [email protected] Subject: Scheduled builds This time I changed a .java file (added a blank line), and committed the change to the 9.2.1 branch. Never-the-less, Continuum did not build any of the three projects when the clock crossed the hour. In the logs I see the following message three times (for each of the three projects): 20209359 [pool-1-thread-1] INFO org.apache.maven.continuum.buildcontroller.BuildController:default - The project was not built because no changes were detected in sources since the last build. Within the "calypso" project group I have three sub-projects, each also called "calypso" but with different version numbers. Am I perhaps tripping up here because my projects share the same name? -----Original Message----- From: Robin Roos Sent: 13 March 2008 17:12 To: '[email protected]' Subject: RE: Subversion Repository Philosophy I changed a file and keenly waited 10 minutes for 16:00:00 GMT to roll around and then...nothing happenned. Well, not quite nothing. At precisely the hour, Continuum quickly checked all three projects (trunk, 9.2.0 and 9.2.1) and determined that no SOURCES had changed. I had changed a file which forms part of the assembly but does not go into the project artifact and is not, therefore, a "SOURCE". What files constitute a "SOURCE" - just .java? Anything in src/main/java? Or src/main/resources? Does the "Always Build" flag of the build definition have an impact here? If I set it true will it build every hour even if nothing has changed, or will it build every hour is something has changed even is that something is not a "SOURCE" ? Thanks again, Robin. -----Original Message----- From: Robin Roos Sent: 13 March 2008 16:35 To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Subversion Repository Philosophy So if I have two separate Continuum projects each looking at different branches in svn, then the 9.2.0 Continuum project will not build if the only repository changes were to the 9.2.1 branch (but the 9.2.1 project will build in that case)? I'm just configuring the second project (9.2.1) so I can test this empirically later this afternoon.... -----Original Message----- From: John Coleman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 13 March 2008 16:27 To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Subversion Repository Philosophy It simply triggers builds when svn reports the local working copy is behind the repo copy.
