Thank you for your reply. Seems indeed maven 3 is causing all the trouble. I did a full rebuild of 1.3.6 using maven 2.2.1 and there were no test failures (although it required some tinkering with JAVA_HOME and PATH variables). Executing builds on the generated binaries seems to work as well.
