'Softupdates' have saved me far more grief than they have ever contributed to. Lot's of folk misunderstand what they do - and how quickly they can post if all
the kit is properly configured.
Can You write something more about advantages of softupdates? In fact,
i don't understand exactly what softupdates is. Yeah, i know, should
read code.. But im to tired at the moment..

softupdates is a way to avoid having to write all meta-data changes directly
(in order) to disk. instead those changes stay in memory and get written down
regularly, yet they get written down sorted in such a way that the filesystem
is supposed not to get trashed totally (like it could be the case with
unordered async writes). If you, for example, create a file and remove it
directly afterwards, chances are good that this directory entry never hits the
disk.
