How far away is the ATA FreeBSD port?

Just out of curiosity, because Ive got hold of this workstation that 
uses on the those on-motherboard SATA RAID controllers (SIS i believe). 
The 2 disks are in mirror. FreeBSD 6 recognizes the mirror but DragonFly 
doesnt.
