Ah, I see what you mean. mhonarc, the tool being used to htmlize the email and build the indexes, allows one to have different classes for the start of a thread and the child posts. However there isn't (to my knowledge) a way to mark just alternating articles, which is what we'd need in order to make the rows distinct.
