It sounds like nfe0's interrupt is miswired, you have two choices:
(1) Try running nfs0 in polling mode.
ifconfig nfe0 polling
(2) Compile SMP but without APIC_IO. This might fix the interrupt
routing issue too.

There may be differences between 32-bit and 64-bit code related to
APIC_IO. In particular some changes that sephe made to pc32 may not be
mirrored to pc64.
