There have been discussions (on IRC I think) before. I too think we should set RCD_SCRIPTS_DIR to something else in the mk.conf we deliver. But I think I'd prefer /usr/pkg/etc/rc.d, to have a clean separation between base and pkgsrc rc scripts (which might have the same names).

People have reported that /usr/pkg/etc/rc.d can be used already, but apparently the rcrun(8) scripts don't yet work with it.

I'll look into all this.
