JAXB unmarshalling mode in CXF

Which JAXB unmarshalling mode (structural/flexible) is used in CXF? I guess
it's flexible which parses also invalid XML input, is that assumption
correct? 
Can it be configured to use structural mode and if yes, would it be faster
than XSD validation?
