I recommend making a sample RPC/literal service with annotations, and trace how the code looks at those annotations and see what it does.
I don't think that Aegis will make a difference: it's the data binding, and RPC versus Document is a Front-End matter. JAX-WS does support RPC/Literal AFAIK.
