Sorry, I misunderstood your question. The value you get from getUserPrincipal() matches with the subject in the SAML token.

In the simple sample I tried changing the .../role claim in the configuration to the .../givennname claim, but this does not change the value that getUserPrincipal returns. Looking at the SAML token, it seems that the principal is extracted from the subject than one of the claims. So how does this work?
