Ok, thanks Freeman. Forking did the trick. I found another problem regarding proxies (the plugin complains because it cannot load implied XSDs): I could not find how to give the proxy definition to the plugin (passing it to the command line is not possible for me). I somewhat expected that it would take it from Maven (which connects fine to the outside world) This was worked around by copying all the necessary XSDs locally, but if I missed smthg cleverer, I would gladly give it a try :)
