Just a guess, but any chance the new version of Weblogic contains a
Jettison jar in in its "stack" somewhere?.

We used to have similar issues on IBM WAS7 with JAX-WS stuff where they're
notorious for including all these other JAR files (some of them altered by
IBM) and something older or altered, got loaded in the classloader first
and it gets hit first instead of the one you expect for your app.

Just a thought.
